GENTLE GIANT, DELIGHTFUL DISC

Three Gut Records’ resident six-foot albino acoustic pop crooner Gentleman Reg releases his exemplary second album, Make Me Pretty, with a show at the Rivoli on Friday, July 5. The show is opened by the Fembots, and Hidden Cameras frontman Joel Gibb. www.threegutrecords.com.

EAT VS. ROSCO, ODDS ARE EVEN
Two sets of local rock’n’roll bon vivants square off on Thursday, July 12 at Club 56, located at 56 Kensington Ave. Eat DJs Fuck The Man and Crazzy Gravy invite the Rosco magazine crew’s DJs Rocknroll James Casey and Heavy Early to challenge their spun-out mix of "rock and roll all kinds" on their night, their turf. Those who pay cover will receive a free copy of Rosco and Re-Define Records’ new CD comp, featuring tons of great local artists.

GAFFER TOURS, ANTS COLONIZE WEB
Kitchener trio and AntiAntenna Recordings’ flagship act Gaffer head out on a cross-Canada/U.S. tour this month. The kickoff show goes down Wednesday, July 17 at the 360. The folks at AntiAntenna have also launched a fine webzine which goes by the name Ant Zine. In bizarre corporate infilitration of youth culture news, a new all-ages club called Presto has opened up at 303 Augusta Ave. in Kensington Market. The space is booked by indie promoter Eric Whacked, run by the Youthography marketing group and funded by… Nike?! Yes, Presto is also the name of the new line the hip-craving shoe company is targeting at freethinking young people with "active lifestyles." Presto shows continue until August 17, when this anomalous promotional hybrid’s lifespan will be abruptly terminated.
